we stand up for women

Safe Haven Community supports vulnerable women experiencing domestic and family violence.

We support women in different stages of their abuse, offering general guidance and advising potential pathways to leave if they choose.

We work with them directly where we can and provide connections to a network of additional government and community assets and agencies offering a range of support services including: financial assistance, social services, employment, housing, and other resorces.

FINANCIAL ABUSE:

Financial abuse is one of the most common — and least visible — forms of domestic and family violence. By controlling money, debt, employment, and access to resources, perpetrators undermine a woman’s ability to leave, recover, and rebuild her life.

The damage doesn’t end when the violence stops. Economic abuse erodes confidence, independence, and long-term security — often leaving survivors financially trapped long after physical safety has been achieved.

At Safe Haven Community, we believe financial recovery is not optional — it is essential. Trauma-informed, person-centred financial capability support is a critical part of sustainable safety, autonomy, and prevention.
